Scrapbook Assignment The History of the United States of America (1770-1880)
Objective:
- Students will make a scrapbook detailing American History between the years 1770-1880.
Learning Goals:

Materials Needed:
- Construction paper, notebook, or scrapbook album
- Photographs, maps and drawings
- Tape, glue, scissors, pen, pencil, markers, construction paper, and white paper
Students will…
- Recreate the history of America using facts, critical thought and personal interpretations.
- Include thirty pre-assigned topics (events, people, ideals, concepts, etc…).
- Write 1-paragraph (5-7 sentences & a minimum of 5 facts) or more and include an additional 2-3 sentences expressing your personal opinion or reaction for each of the thirty topics; in addition students will write a 1-page summary about America between 1770-1880.
- Include a photograph, map or drawing representing each of the thirty topics.
- Create a scrapbook cover that represents the United States of America (in your opinion) between 1770-1880.

American History Scrapbook Assignment
A year-long project You are at the beginning of your year-long course on American History which will cover America between 1770s-1880s. You will study many important and memorable events that have occurred throughout our country’s history. Throughout the year, you are to collect information regarding each of the thirty assigned topics. Your scrapbooks will be collected following the conclusion of study for each of the topics listed. You will receive a grade for each individual entry (10 points per topic), as well as a final grade upon completion of all thirty topics and 1-page summary. You must follow all requirements included below:
- Include ALL thirty topics (minimum of 1-page per topic) in numerical order.
- Include a photograph, map or drawing for each topic.
- For each topic include a typed or neatly written 1-paragraph (or more) entry detailing factual information (minimum of 5 facts). In addition to this paragraph you must also include 2-3 sentences expressing your personal opinion and/or reaction to each topic (a minimum of 30-paragraphs for the entire assignment).
